Archive for September, 2009

This week I was looking over my calendar for 2010 and thought I’d give you all an update.  I’m filling up rather quickly for “wedding season” (May through October), and some months have only one available weekend.  If you are thinking about booking Studio Noveau, please contact me sooner rather than later.

Also, I’ve decided to offer an off-season incentive as a way to encourage weddings in the non-peak months.  Yay!  If you book your wedding between November and April, excluding holiday weekends, I will offer you one of two things:

1) A second photographer upgrade at no cost to you

or

2)  10% off your wedding photography package

Make sure to mention this incentive when you are inquiring with me.  Also, don’t forget to find me on Facebook under Studio Noveau Photography!

Have a great week, everyone!  Let me leave you with a little eye-candy from Lisa and Rick’s Trash the Dress session a few weeks ago:

Several weeks ago, I entered this photo in the Modern Photographers “Best of Wedding Day” contest.
Studio Noveau's Grapes of Love

A little background on Modern Photographers: to become a member, a photographer must apply and be judged by a panel of peers. They must uphold high standards, shoot with professional quality equipment, have full backup equipment, and more. The photographer’s style must all be considered “modern”. Earlier this year, I applied for membership and was accepted! That acceptance made me the second photographer in the state of Wisconsin to be considered a “Modern Photographer” so I was pretty excited.

Well, a few weeks ago, Modern Photographers announced a photo contest. Those of you who are Facebook fans of Studio Noveau may remember me posting about this. As I mentioned above, I submitted the photo of Ross and Amanda from their wedding in Viroqua at Pedretti Party Barn (and vineyards). Today I received an email… not only did this photo place in the top 10 of all submissions, it actually took THIRD place! Hooray!

Thanks to all my fans, family, friends, and clients who voted for me, and special thanks to Ross and Amanda for being so wonderful to work with on their wedding day!  I’m honored to have your support, and so excited to have placed third in this national contest!

Continuing the series… here is another video, this time from last weekend’s engagement session with Ashley and Joe. They drove down from Minneapolis / St. Paul and we met up in Viroqua for their totally awesome session. We were able to hit up Main Street and some super secret locations: alleys, graffiti walls, hidden courtyards, and even a local vineyard! I’m really looking forward to their wedding next summer. :)

Thanks to Ron for acting as videographer and second photographer. I love when we are able to capture some video footage plus the pictures from the session in one of these fun little videos!

Make sure to leave a comment! Let me know what you think of the video or leave some well wishes for Ashley and Joe!

Don’t forget- for firsthand sneak peaks, make sure to become a fan of Studio Noveau Photography on Facebook!

Yesterday morning, I had the pleasure of meeting up with Lisa and Rick for a Trash the Dress in Madison.  You may remember them from their wedding at the Gates of Heaven in Madison and reception at The University Club.  You may also remember Lisa’s ORANGE wedding dress!

My super fabulous assistant/second shooter Jen was along for this session, and she was able to capture some great video of the session.  I added some of the final images and some music… and tada!  We have a video!  Just thought I’d share…

UPDATE: Thanks to all who submitted photos for Operation: Kyle Smile!  Please check my Facebook page to see a photo album of the submissions!

Operation: Kyle Smile!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. We all know that the pink ribbon signifies breast cancer… did you know gold signifies childhood cancer?

In honor of my super strong, fabulously talented, big-hearted nephew Kyle, I’m offering a fun promotion.  Kyle is currently kicking cancer’s butt, and he loves to hear about all the people that are rooting for him.  This little guy has already beat cancer once, and he’s ready to be done with chemo, hospital stays, and feeling sick.  So this is for you, Buddy!

*Photos taken by Steve and Kelly Cook, not by me.  :)

The idea: Send me a picture of  you or a member of your family wearing yellow (Kyle’s favorite color) or gold (color of childhood cancer).  Bonus points if you are with a group of 5 or more people.  You can wear a shirt, a ribbon, a blanket, or anything!  You also must take a piece of paper and write a message to Kyle or other cancer warriors in the picture.  Please email your picture to me at rebecca@studionoveau.com.

Wear gold to show your support and raise awareness! Here are some facts that you may or may not know – and we’re counting on you to spread the word:

  1. Cancer is the leading cause of death due to illness for U.S. children.
  2. The average age of a childhood cancer diagnosis is 6 years old – exactly when Kyle was first diagnosed.
  3. Every day, 35 kids hear the devastating news that they have cancer.

Thanks for your support!  This contest will run through September.
