Happy 2010, Everyone!  If you’ve been a loyal blog or Facebook follower of Studio Noveau for any amount of time, you may have learned a few things about me.

  1. My husband just got back from Iraq on December 23.  (Yay for fun surprise Christmas presents!) The photo below is my hubby during his 2005 deployment.

  3. I’m actually a U.S. Navy veteran myself, as I mentioned a few posts ago.  (I get seasick.  Blech.) The photo below is me and some of my Navy buddies almost 8 years ago.  Can you pick me out?

  5. One of my volunteer activities is working for Operation Love Reunited as a volunteer photographer for deploying or returning military and their families. You can view a sample session by clicking here.

So… this leads me to the purpose of this post.  :)  Several of my clients have been or are currently in the military, and I pride myself on trying to be as military-friendly as possible.  So because of that, I’ve decided to make one very important change, starting in 2010.  Studio Noveau now offers a military discount!  After speaking with a new client a few days ago and learning that many photographers don’t offer military discounts, I’ve decided to make my discount public!  :)  After all, I truly believe that our military and their families are truly sacrificing themselves and years of their lives for us, the American public.

Here are the details:

  • This discount is good for 10% off any session.  Yes, this even applies to wedding packages!  And to go a step further, you may qualify for a FREE Op:Love portrait session.  (Please contact me for more details to see if you qualify for the free session.)
  • There are NO blackout dates.  The only restrictions on dates are if I am already booked or simply cannot fit your session into my schedule.  Typically, I book weddings and portrait sessions on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • This discount doesn’t apply to prints, albums, or canvases.

I hope you are as excited as I am about this.  It’s nice to be able to show appreciation for something so important!  Have a great day!

From the moment I met Cathy and Chris, I knew their wedding would be fun. So many things about them were awesome: great sense of humor, goofy moments between them, and an incredible sense of style. This wedding was very classy!

Ceremony: St. Sebastian, Milwaukee
Reception: Hotel Metro, downtown Milwaukee
Wedding Day Coordinator: Dorothy of Blush Planning

Special thanks to Jen, my fabulous second shooter, who made the trip with me to Milwaukee. We started out at a local park for some family formals. While we were there, we stopped by this amazing stone bridge for a few images of Cathy and Chris. You may remember this location from the “behind the scenes” video I posted a while back.

I even did some minor rock climbing, risking my life (well, maybe just my cameras!) to get this next shot. I love it!

One of my favorite fun facts about this couple was how long they dated. They hold the record for any of my clients… 13 years! And one of my favorite things about this wedding was their theme. They had lots of beautiful damask. Hmm, not sure if you can tell, but I adore damask. I mean, just check out my logo, blog, album packaging, ect. Love it. Here is their program:

The incredibly gorgeous cathedral they were married in, St. Sebastian’s:

I love this little moment between them:

And this one…

Their priest was great! I love when the officiant is both fun and delivers a meaningful ceremony. He asked the entire congregation to raise their hands to bless the couple. This image taken by Jen:

The kiss!

Once we got to Hotel Metro, we headed upstairs to take a few shots at Zen on 7, their rooftop bar. We only had a few minutes before a private party started, but we got a couple fun shots with downtown Milwaukee in the background.

Two of my favorite shots of the day were actually completely unplanned while on the way back to the reception. This was the reception area outside the elevator, then inside the elevator. Fun!

The reception:

In case you missed the table detail:

They had these fantastic jazz musicians. I love jazz.

Jen captured this shot during their first dance:

And of course, what would I be thinking if I didn’t post one of my famous ring shots? :)

Chris and Cathy, thanks for a great day! Congratulations on FINALLY allowing those pigs to fly.

Yesterday morning, I had the pleasure of meeting up with Lisa and Rick for a Trash the Dress in Madison.  You may remember them from their wedding at the Gates of Heaven in Madison and reception at The University Club.  You may also remember Lisa’s ORANGE wedding dress!

My super fabulous assistant/second shooter Jen was along for this session, and she was able to capture some great video of the session.  I added some of the final images and some music… and tada!  We have a video!  Just thought I’d share…
