Now that wedding season is winding down for the year, I’ve got a little more time to catch up on important things.  Things like giving you all your “fix” of wedding photos, designing albums, and researching lot of fun ideas for next year’s weddings.  Well, I’ll be the first to admit that the blog has been quite picture-less lately, so I thought it was time to remedy that!

Liz and Ed were married in Boscobel in September.  I had no idea what to expect… their original reception venue closed months before their wedding, so Ed told me they would then have the reception on the family farm.  Little did I know this family farm was charming with fun little details that photographers drool over!  The sign above greeted me as I arrived.  The further I went, the more enchanted I became!

Liz and Ed actually live in Minnesota, so I hadn’t had a chance to meet them before.  But when we did meet, I discovered they were warm, thoughtful, and so laid back!  While Liz was putting on the final touches, I was able to take a few portrait shots of Ed.

When they did finally see each other, it was so fun to see how Liz just lit up his face.  I love this one:

I LOVE this next shot of the bouquet.  Check out the copper curly wires sticking out of the flowers!

Then we headed off to the church… the guys still had a few final touches before they were ready, and everyone was able to get some relaxed visiting time prior to the ceremony.  I love when my clients plan for extra time to just relax on such a busy day!

Afer a few final formal portraits, we headed off to the reception.

This cracked me up: they had a small pen set up at the corner of their reception.  Yes, you are reading it correctly: the sign says “Naughty Kids”. To the best of my knowledge, all children behaved perfectly.

Liz and Ed, congratulations!  It was a pleasure to meet you!  It was so nice to shoot a wedding so close to my house.  Normally I’m all over Wisconsin and Iowa, so a beautiful wedding 20 miles away from my home was a nice change of pace.

So you’ve already seen a preview of the preview… here are the rest of the preview photos!

Let me give you a little background on these two and I. We’ve been trying to schedule this session since November. Yes, that’s right, November. It is now February. It seemed like there was always something- rain, extreme cold, or just SOMETHING that got in the way of us actually meeting to shoot their engagement photos! I think we must have scheduled them 6 or 7 times, and finally decided to wait a week or two for it to warm up before trying again.

Well, guess what? The ONE week we decided to take a break was the week it ended up being nearly 40 degrees! So we planned a last-minute session and the weather was gorgeous. They live on Kevin’s family farm along the Wisconsin River near Muscoda, WI. It was most definitely beautiful, and the history was great! There some awesome buildings and fun animals like Panda the cow, Rosie the dog, and few others. When I was doing the post-processing work to these pictures, I tried to give some of them an antique feel, and others I tried to play around with the vibrance a bit. It was such a fun batch of pictures to play with!

Well, enough of me talking… what do you think?

This preview is late. Yes, I know… very late! They actually got married just over a week ago, and normally I try to get previews up within a few days. Sorry, guys! With wedding season just starting to come to an end for the year, that’s been a mad flurry of things to do.

Right now they are probably sitting on a beach in Costa Rica, drinking something out of a coconut. Did I mention Costa Rica was one of my favorite places in the world? I’ve been to a lot of countries (15 if anyone is counting), but it was by far one of the coolest places to visit.

Anyway, back to Ty and Josh. They are too cute. We did engagement photos in Ferryville a few months ago, and their pictures ended up centering around the train tracks that run through the little town. In fact, we even got a couple neat ones as the train was actually racing past us! So imagine my excitement as we decided to take even more pictures that had a train theme. Boscobel has a super cool historic train depot, and we headed there for about 20 minutes of pictures. We also stopped by a park along the Wisconsin River for just a few minutes, and were able to get a couple neat ones at sunset. I posted a few of my favorites below.

Another cool thing they did was schedule a private moment for the two of them to see each other for the first time… without anyone else. Except me and my cameras. But anyway, Josh was like a little kid at Christmas the first time he saw Ty in her wedding dress. It was probably the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen!

Ty and Josh were also one of the first couples to purchase the Photo Guest Book after their engagement session. It was neat to see how much the guests liked it. My favorite passage from their book was when one guest wrote (next to a train picture, of course!) how they should “stay on TRACK” and that Ty should “TRAIN Josh well”. :D I’m a bit cheesy, so that made me laugh. There’s a picture of it in the slideshow so you all can enjoy it as much as I did.
