Pam and Matt are great. Really. I loved this session. We met for the first time at The Old Fashioned on the Madison square a few minutes before this session and I knew instantly that they’d be fun to work with.
(Of course, we all decided that having a cocktail before we started shooting was a good thing!)
One thing I thought was fabulous was their outfits. They coordinated but weren’t too “matchy-matchy”. It probably helps that Pam has a background in design plus works at a retail clothing store on the side. Seriously- I love the neutrals with a pop of color (her necklace)!
Before the session, we discussed outfits and I mentioned that I love when clients dress up a bit: heels, dresses/skirts, and layers for ladies, and suit coats, sweaters, layers, ect for the guys. I was absolutely delighted when Pam and Matt were on board with this idea! Plus, I have to give Pam some major kudos for braving the 40 degree temps in a dress and heels!
One more thing I was excited about was incorporating night portraits into the session. We timed our start time so that we’d finish after dark. I really love this dramatic night look. And this location was fantastic! I was lucky that a good friend of mine, Mandie from Red Gecko Studio, has a studio a few blocks from the Capitol. So in addition to her tagging along to help with lighting, she had some fun location ideas! (Thanks again, Mandie!)
